Cookies & local storage

Current position

The Website's application code currently sets no cookies and does not use analytics, advertising or behavioural tracking. It uses local storage only to provide planner features or display preferences that you choose. The planner does not send locally stored information to Light My Reptile LLC.

Local storage is browser storage kept on your device. It is not a cookie, but privacy rules may treat cookies and other technologies that store or access information on a device in a similar way. This page should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

Local storage used by the planner

The Website currently uses these first-party local-storage entries:

• rl-sim-setups-v1 stores setups that you deliberately save, including the setup name, saved date, planner configuration and any name you give the animal. It is created or updated when you save, overwrite or delete a setup and remains until you delete the setups or clear the Website's stored site data.
• rl-sim-remember-me-v1 records that you enabled Remember me. It is written only when you turn that option on and is removed when you turn it off.
• rl-sim-workspace-v1 stores the current animal and its name, enclosure, lamps, positions and planner settings while Remember me is enabled. It is created and updated only while that option is on and is removed when you turn it off.
• rl-sim-layout-override-v1 stores desktop or mobile when you deliberately override the automatic layout. It is removed when you return the layout choice to automatic.
• rl-sim-learn-invite-v1 records that you opened the beginner guide or chose not to see the guide invitation popup again, so the popup is not shown on later visits. It is written when you make that choice and remains until you clear the Website's stored site data.

These entries have no fixed expiry and are specific to the browser profile and device where you made the choice. On a return visit, the Website reads existing entries to restore those choices. A fresh visit does not save a setup or workspace automatically.

Your controls

You can control or remove local storage by:

• deleting individual saved setups in the Saved setups panel;
• turning off Remember me, which removes the remembered workspace and its setting;
• returning the desktop/mobile layout selection to automatic; or
• clearing or blocking stored site data in your browser settings.

If local storage is blocked, the planner can still operate in memory during the current visit, but saved setups, Remember me and layout preferences may not persist after the page closes or reloads.

Cookies, hosting and external links

The Website is hosted using Cloudflare Pages. The hosting and security provider processes the technical requests needed to deliver and protect the Website and may use strictly necessary technologies when required for functions such as security or abuse prevention. Light My Reptile LLC does not use those technologies for advertising or behavioural tracking.

Links to source documents, social networks, donation services and other external sites open those providers' websites. Those sites may set their own cookies or use other storage under their own policies. Simply displaying this Website does not embed content from those sites.

Future changes and consent

If Light My Reptile LLC adds accounts, analytics or another service that uses a new cookie, local-storage entry, tracker or similar technology, this page will be updated before the new use begins. The update will identify its provider, purpose and duration, and prior opt-in consent will be requested where required.

Where consent is required, users will be able to reject non-essential purposes as easily as they can accept them and will be given a straightforward way to change or withdraw their choice. A necessary entry may be used to remember the consent preference itself.
